カリス CLASS 201: ROAD TO MATURITY (Part 1)
 カリス CLASS 201:
ROAD TO MATURITY
Coined from Rick Warren's Spiritual Maturity (Class 201)

Jeje, Yom, Nerissa & Sacha,
I am sad that I won't be personally talking this lesson with you. However, I want to keep sharing you lessons every week. Even though I will be busy this month of November (Anniversary Month) doesn't mean I should neglect you! Haha, no way. So, you know naman from time to time I will make *kulit + chismis* to you. Let me check on you every once in a while.

Since we can't talk personally, (and just making sure you read) post your questions / comments / suggestions / prayers along this post.

I repeat. It's a MUST.

Ate Chris.

PS: If you guys are comfortable with this format, we could continue this even after we start our class again.

Let's call this 201 Home Study!

At 101, we studied the beginning of being a Christian.
There's a big difference of knowing Jesus and knowing Jesus.
What do you guys think?

Knowing Jesus in the head is just like knowing [insert famous person here] but having no relationship with him. You'd probably know who he was, his background, date of birth, favorite color, dropped subjects, etc, but you don't really know him → what he feels, how he thinks, etc.

Really knowing someone is experiencing to be with that person, and in a long time. There you gradually understand how he thinks, kung anong yung ayaw nya, what makes him smile, what displeases him, etc. So, with that, Accepting Christ isn't the enough holds for us Christians.

We need to know Him as in really know Him.

When we get to know Christ in a more personal level, as in experiencing Him, that's when we slowly grow to be more mature. Christian Maturity is also termed as gradually being "Christlike." Picking up the cross.

Now, Christians rarely mature because of this. Siguro alam nialng lahat yung tungkol sa Bible, without maturing makes it all shallow → mababaw. You can see what happens to Immature Christians. They easily... backslide.

Maturity takes a long time; just like  friendship where two people gets to know and discover things in each other over a period. It's not automatic. It goes into a process, and lastly, takes a lot of discipline.

Kaya, class, as I don't expect you to mature right now, Jesus wants you to grow into Him in time. All of us are "Under Construction."

Take note of the last statement.... Maturity needs discipline. Kasi nga naman, if we keep on doing the things we want and not what God wants, paano tayo mag-mamature? Now, here are some points:

  • Maturity is being like Christ.
  • You cannot be a disciple without being disciplined!
  • The more disciplined you are, the more God can use you. Why? Because He knows, that if you had done well with little things, you can be trusted with bigger things!
  • A disciple's mark is his ability to take the cross.
And taking the cross sometimes, can be painful. However,

"It is doubtful whether  God can bless a man greatly unless he has hurt him deeply."
- A. W. Tozer

Have you ever heard the statement, "Practice makes Permanent?" Ah, sino'ng madalas magsabi no'n? Guess who :) But it makes sense right? If you try to do it all the time then it will become a habit. Now, God wants us to practice these things to become a habit:

Prayer
Tithing
Reading the Bible
Fellowship

However, we will tackle that on our next lessons.

Into the green, into the blue
